God gave me a BIG job--to be a mother not only to my own children and grandchildren, but to to all African children. Since 1981, this calling has dominated my life. It's led me to eight African countries and into more adventures than I can tell! I've sunk in African mud up to my armpits as I explored a shortcut home, lived in a mud hut for six years, plunked my bare behind on a stream of driver ants crossing the toilet seat in a dark outhouse, been in the same bed with a black mamba snake, bargained to free slaves from idol shrines, shared the Gospel in the shadow of walls said to be cemented with human blood, hugged AIDS children, experienced the joy of teaching God's Word to a little of shiny black faces beaming up at me from their log pew, written books in the African Kituba language and then translated one of them BACK into English, and filled the cover pages of my Bible with names of African children and others God has privileged me to be able to lead to Jesus. I've been through an army mutiny in Africa and a civil war and made so many plane trips I sometimes feel like a yo-yo! Mine has been an interesting, difficult, challenging, and most rewarding life.
